Limiter Waves L2 Download

Waves Manufacturer site For mixing, mastering, and more, the L2’s legendary combination of look-ahead brickwall peak limiting, level maximization, and ultra high resolution give you the power and extra gain you need with crystal-clear results every single time. I have a chance to buy a brandy new Waves L2 Ultramaximizer (hardware unit) for a rediculous price. I already have all the UAD-1 plugs incuding Precision Limiter, Multiband, etc - everything they make.

Well I don't think that the L2 is that terrible (although there are much better options out there), but it's the incredible overuse of it, or any limiter for that matter. Some people will stick an L-whatever on a drum bus and suddenly it's LOUD AS FUCK!!!! So the brain says 'This is good'. The questions you should ask yourself are 'Why am I going to put a limiter on X?

What am I trying to accomplish? Is a limiter the best way to achieve these results?' But to answer your question.there are better limiters out there. Check KVR.I'm sure there's some good freebies out there. Originally posted by Electrostatix Totally agree, I think the vast majority of software limiters completely ruin the dynamics of your music if you ask them to do anything more than catch the odd peak. I was experimenting with the the UAD Precision Limiter the other day, which is a good brickwall limiter, certainly much better than average. I soon came to the conclusion that its only vaguely transparent with anything under 2db of peak reduction, once it gets towards 3db I can hear it at work quite obviously.

A good rule of thumb is that series have a conventional name and are intentional creations, on the part of the author or publisher. Like many concepts in the book world, 'series' is a somewhat fluid and contested notion.

Waves is pretty much free tbh. I don't know anyone in their right mind who'd think about shelling out that much cash for very bland and unspectacular plug-ins. SSL emulations, etc. Are bordering on unusable imo. Really not impressed with them. Yeah, L1's fine for most things. I'm not a huge fan of the Oxford limiter tbh.

It's got a bit of a dark quality I'm not too keen on. L1 and L2 are nice and clean if used sensibly. A little too much and things can sound very harsh and brittle though. I rarely use a limiter for more than 3db GR. Really wants to be an invisible process, and L1's not bad for that.

(but DON'T pay for it. If you've got 'morals' don't even think about Waves anything.

No plug-in I've heard's worth more than £15.) You can get some stunning sounding hardware limiting amps though. Things which really impart a lot of character and can really glue mixes together.
